I HAVE MY LICENSE! NOW WHAT DO I DO?

CONDITIONS OF YOUR restricted LICENSE

CONGRATULATIONS YOU'VE DONE IT!

Now you have your full license, you’re finally free from restricted license conditions and you can drive with passengers! You can drive any friends or family that you’d like as long as you’re able to drive safely and focus on the roads.

The main restriction that remains the same, even on your full license, is the amount of alcohol you’re allowed if you’re driving. This restriction stays the same at 250mcg of alcohol per litre of breath (or 50mg per 100ml of blood/one standard drink) if you’re 20 and over. If you’re under 20 you still won’t be able to drink any alcohol if you’re driving. Remember, be safe when you’re driving while under the influence, it could be easiest to just stay at the venue so you don’t cause any danger to others or yourself.

You are not allowed to drive on any drugs that affect your driving ability, so you’ll have to be careful when taking medicines that could impact this. The penalties for driving under the influence of drugs where you can’t easily control your vehicle is $4500 or three months of jail time. You’ll also be automatically disqualified from being able to drive for at least six months.

You’ll be able to drive anywhere at night now without having to worry about being supervised by anyone. Just be careful at night as you won’t be able to see as well as you would during the road. You’ll need your headlights turned on if you’re driving between 30 minutes after sunset and 30 minutes before sunrise on the next day.

Sweet! You can now drive any class 1 vehicle that you want! You can drive automatic or manual so if you learned on an automatic for your learner’s and restricted licenses, you’ll have even more choice on which vehicles to drive now!
